Bowling Green man charged with DUI after car hits tree

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is charged with driving under the influence following a crash.

According to a uniform citation, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched around 3:51 p.m. Sunday to the 2100 block of Boiling Springs Road for a single-vehicle collision.

Deputies say upon arrival, it was apparent the driver, identified as 22-year-old Caleb Weemoff of Bowling Green, and his passenger were under the influence of alcohol.

Authorities say the vehicle at the scene had struck a tree head on.

According to deputies, Weemoff admitted to drinking at a bar just before the crash.

Deputies say Weemoff stated he was drunk, however, he chose to drive since his passenger was more drunk.

While traveling home, authorities say Weemoff stated he took a turn too fast, running off the road and hitting a road sign, a utility pole and a tree.

Authorities say the passenger sustained a severe injury to his face, causing bone to be visible. The passenger was transported by EMS to The Medical Center at Bowling Green.

Weemoff was placed into custody and transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for clearance.

Weemoff remains at the Warren County Regional Jail and faces charges of second-degree assault, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal mischief, driving on a DUI suspended license, first offense and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, seoncd offense.
