BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing multiple charges after a collision broke a utility pole.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded Wednesday evening to a single-vehicle collision.

Officers say they responded to Victoria Street and Beauty Avenue, where a vehicle had struck a utility pole.

Authorities say the utility pole was broken off at the ground with downed power lines.

Bowling Green Municipal Utilities says the pole was reportedly hit at 7:50 p.m. Crews worked to replace the pole and make repairs until 11:30 p.m.

Police say they later located the driver, identified as 38-year-old Ryan Sullins of Bowling Green. Authorities say Sullins had walked away from the scene before they responded.

While speaking with Sullins, police say they could smell the odor of alcohol on his breath.

During Standard Field Sobriety Tests, officers say Sullins showed multiple signs of impairment.

Authorities say Sullins declined EMS treatment but was transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for medical clearance.

He was later lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail.

Sullins is charged with first-degree criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident – failure to render aid or assistance, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, second offense and no operators-moped license.
