Bowling Green man charged in relation to 2022 alleged rape

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing multiple charges after police say he engaged in sexual intercourse with a minor.
According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department arrested 21-year-old William Deaton of Bowling Green on Friday, June 14 on charges of second-degree rape, unlawful transaction with a minor, first offense – illegal sex act under 16 years of age and second-degree sodomy.
Police responded Friday to Deaton’s residence for an interview. During this time, the uniform citation states Deaton was mirandized and waived his rights, stating he had engaged in sexual intercourse twice with a 13-year-old victim.
Police say this involved a case they responded to on November 23, 2022 for a reported rape.
Police say the suspect was identified as Deaton, who the victim alleges made sexual contact with her. Two days after police responded in 2022, they say Deaton went to the Bowling Green Police Department to speak about “being framed for a rape.”
The uniform citation says police were able to review information on January 13, 2023 from the victim’s forensic interview, which stated Deaton made sexual contact with the victim. In March 2024, police say they were able to review a forensic interview with a family member of the victim, who stated Deaton was present the day of the incident and that the victim stated he had made sexual contact with the victim.
Police say they also received results back on April 3, 2024 for a sexual assault kit from 2022.
According to police, Deaton had been 20 years old at the time of the incidents.
Deaton was taken into custody and transported to the Warren County Detention Center.
