Bowling Green man charged in ongoing check fraud investigation

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One man is facing an organized crime charge involved in an ongoing check fraud investigation in Bowling Green.

According to the Bowling Green Police Department, on Tuesday, officers, along with postal inspectors from the U.S. Postal Service, executed a search warrant at a local hotel.

Police say officers arrested 45-year-old Joseph Cockroft of Bowling Green.

He faces charges of engaging in organized crime, second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and possession of a forgery device.

According to police, Cockroft is alleged to have been creating fictitious checks and recruiting individuals to negotiate those checks at different financial institutions.

Cockroft remains at the Warren County Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash bond.
