Bowling Green man charged after social media threat against Greenwood Mall
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) – A Bowling Green man has been arrested after police say he made an online threat claiming a shooting would take place at Greenwood Mall on Black Friday.
Bowling Green police said officers were notified Thursday evening about a social media post allegedly indicating a shooting would occur at the mall sometime Friday. Detectives began investigating immediately and were able to identify and locate the person responsible for the post.
Investigators were able to track down the individual believed to be responsible for the post and took him into custody without incident. Police identified the suspect as Jay H. Gill, 33, of Bowling Green.
Gill is charged with second-degree terroristic threatening, tampering with physical evidence, and second-degree disorderly conduct. Police did not specify what evidence was allegedly tampered with or whether the threat was deemed credible beyond the initial post.
Additional details were not immediately released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
