Bowling Green man charged after reported food thefts from Meijer

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is behind bars after reported food thefts from a local Meijer.
According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department received multiple “mark down” theft reports by an employee of the meat and seafood department in Meijer.
Authorities say between Jan. 31 and March 15, a total loss of $4,863.81 was recorded at the store.
Police say the suspect and employee was identified as 46-year-old Daniel Hagan of Bowling Green.
According to police, Hagan allowed around 38 of his friends or acquaintances to buy expensive products, such as tenderloin, for much less.
Authorities say one example was a $200 cut of meat being sold for $6.
Police say Hagan confessed to being involved in at least 48 theft incidents while employed at Meijer.
Hagan was taken into custody and transported to the Warren County Regional Jail.
He faces a charge of theft by deception – include cold checks between $1,000 and $10,000.
