Bowling Green man arrested after shots fired complaint

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing charges in relation to a shot fired complaint Wednesday night.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded around 11:44 p.m. to the 1200 block of Nahm Drive after a complainant stated a suspect had fired several warning shots into the ground.

Upon arriving, police say they spoke with the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Zachary Baker.

Police say Baker stated he fired “warning shots” from a Ruger pistol and advised the complainant was a coworker that had been residing with him.

Baker stated his wife told him the complainant had argued with her about the complainant’s cat scratching the couch, according to police.

The complainant arrived on scene, where another verbal argument took place, police say. Police say Baker told them he fired a single warning shot at this time and said he was going to shoot the cat.

Baker stated the complainant then threatened Baker’s children if he were to shoot the cat, according to police. The uniform citation states Baker stated he fired two additional shots into the ground.

Police say the complainant confirmed the reason for the initial argument and that he had gathered his belongings. According to police, they located two shell casings at the scene.

Baker was arrested and transported to the Warren County Detention Center.

He faces charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, menacing and discharging a firearm in city limits.
