Bowling Green man arrested after nearly colliding head-on with deputy

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing charges after authorities say he nearly hit a deputy head-on while traveling in the wrong lane.

According to a uniform citation, a Warren County sheriff’s deputy was working in the area of Russellville Road and Blue Level Road on Saturday just after midnight.

The citation states the deputy was traveling southbound on Russellville Road when they observed an SUV driving toward them in the deputy’s lane of travel.

The deputy says they slowed down, however, the SUV continued at the same speed directly toward their cruiser, the citation states. According to the citation, the deputy had to swerve into the right lane to avoid a head-on collision.

The deputy says they turned on their emergency equipment and caught up to the SUV to conduct a traffic stop.

After parking at a gas station off of Russellville Road, the deputy says they approached the driver, identified as 25-year-old Will Howard of Bowling Green.

The citation states Howard stated he was drunk when asked what was going on.

Standard Field Sobriety Testing was conducted, and Howard was arrested. At the Warren County Regional Jail, the citation states Howard had a breath test result of .232.

He faces charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense and reckless driving. Howard has since been released.
