BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is behind bars after allegedly fleeing police over the weekend.

According to a uniform citation from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, March 15 at approximately 1:37 a.m., a deputy observed a vehicle on Cemetery Road going 70 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone.

When the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, authorities say the vehicle driven by 23-year-old Anderson Duran-Alvarado of Bowling Green allegedly accelerated, turning onto Briteway Drive before turning again onto Mount Victor Lane at speeds close to 100 mph.

Due to the high rate of speed, the deputy determined the chase was unsafe and disengaged, according to the uniform citation.

Shortly after ending the chase, the deputy says they observed a large cloud of smoke coming from the 2200 block of Mount Victor Lane. Upon arrival, the deputy says they determined Duran-Alvarado had driven through a speed limit sign before hitting a mailbox and driving through two yards, ultimately coming to a stop at the property.  The damage from the crash is estimated to cost more than $500.

After the crash Duran-Alvarado refused commands and would not lie on the ground. The citation states that Duran-Alvarado had to be forced to the ground with two knee strikes. While on the ground, Duran-Alvarado allegedly kept resisting before ultimately being placed into custody.

According to the citation, after his arrest, Duran-Alvarado stated he had drunk an alcoholic beverage, which was later found empty in his vehicle.  Along with the empty beverage, authorities say they found several suspected THC vapes and containers with suspected THC wax in plain view inside the vehicle. During a search of Duran-Alvarado, a THC vape was also located in his left sock.

Duran-Alvarado was transported to The Medical Center Bowling Green for a blood draw and medical clearance before being transported to the Warren County Regional Jail, where he now faces several charges, including speeding 15 miles per hour over the limit, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol,  failure of the owner to maintain required insurance, first-degree fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.
