BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing multiple charges following a vehicle pursuit on Tuesday morning.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department observed a driver that did not have a seat belt on in the area of Stubbins Street around 9:17 a.m.

The citation states the officer turned around to attempt a traffic stop, however, the driver sped up and parked at a house.

Upon responding to that location, officers say the vehicle then pulled back onto the road.

Police say the driver, later identified as 39-year-old Cory Pearson of Bowling Green, again did not have a seat belt on during this time.

Officers say they turned around, and the vehicle began to flee at a high speed down Warren Way.

Police say during the pursuit, the vehicle traveled at a speed “that would cause death or severe injury to anyone it might have struck.”

When police reached Plain Avenue, they say they found the vehicle left parked, running and unattended.

Pearson then ran from the scene, jumping a fence and continuing toward Madison Street, authorities say.

Police say they stopped Pearson on Cherry Way and placed into custody.

Pearson was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), failure to wear seat belts, failure to or improper signal, disregarding a stop sign, operating on a suspended or revoked operators license, reckless driving and permit motor vehicle to run unattended.

He remains at the Warren County Regional Jail.
