Bowling Green man accused of raping 13-year-old girl

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A 19-year-old Bowling Green man is accused of raping and sodomizing a 13-year-old girl Thursday inside of a car.

The girl had been taken to The Medical Center at Bowling Green prior to police arrival. She told police she didn’t know the man’s name but that he held her arms down and covered her mouth when she screamed, according to an arrest citation.

She also stated he pulled her hair and forced her to perform another sex act on him, according to the citation.

Police charged Mei’Kiel Ya, 1944 Woodland Ave. #B, with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy, according to his arrest citation.

Ya told police the two engaged in sexual activity but said it was consensual and he said he was not aware of the girl’s age, according to his citation.

Ya was arraigned in Warren District Court Friday. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Wednesday. He is being held in the Warren County Regional Jail. His bond is set at $10,000.
