Bowling Green Junior High School to undergo renovations this summer
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Some much needed changes are soon to come to a local junior high school.
Bowling Green Junior High School will soon undergo some renovations and construction adding to the existing building and creating bigger spaces for some of the most used areas of the school.
The project will be creating a new section of the school that extends into the current bus loop. Inside will host upgrades for groups like the drama club, band, science classroom and others. Inside the current school, the cafeteria will be extended nearly doubling the size and refurbishing the kitchen area.
New safety protocols will be taken to stay compliant with the current Senate Bill 6. The entrance will be redone offering safer, more controlled entrances, and exits to the building.
And with a student population that continues to climb, nearly reaching 1,000 students this year alone, these renovations are much needed.
“Our district does an outstanding job of planning and looking at needs throughout the district. And as we were going through that process with that committee, Bowling Green Junior High School with kind of next on the list, especially due to our, we’re seeing continuous increase in our enrollment. And so trying to be proactive and, make sure that we’ve got the infrastructure and the facilities to meet those needs of our growing student body population,” said Bowling Green Junior High School principal Robert Lightning.
The project is estimated to cost a little over $20 million with the time line expected to take around 20 months to complete.
