Bowling Green Independent School students to eat for free in 2019-2020
BOWLING GREEN Ky.- Through the Community Eligibility Provision, students enrolled in the Bowling Green Independent School System will eat breakfast and lunch for free during the 2019-2020 school year.
The Community Eligibility Provision is a non-pricing meal service option for schools and school districts in low-income areas.
Under the program, families with students in the district’s schools will no longer be required to complete a free or reduced priced meal application.
Bowling Green Independent School’s Director of Food Service Dalla Emerson says this free meal program will help keep the minds of the students sharp.
“They’ll be able to focus on what they’re learning in class. No one can focus when they’re hungry so we’re really hoping to see a lot of positive changes because of this program,” Emerson said.
While the meals are free, students can still purchase additional meals. Breakfast is $2.50, and lunch is $3.
