Bowling Green Independent School district unveils summer meal plan
BOWLING GREEN Ky.-As this school year begins to wrap up, a local school district has announced the plan for summer meals.
The Bowling Green Independent School District will provide meals from May 25 to July 30. Both Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary and the Bowling Green Learning Center will be open to serve daily meals from their schools between 7:30 a.m-8: 30a.m and 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Weekly meal boxes, including three meals for seven days, will be available to families on Thursday of each week at Bowling Green Junior High between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. beginning May 27.
The purple bus mobile route schedule will visit eight stops each day. This will also include pop-up library stops provided by the warren county public library. Staff are excited to announce that kids will actually get to sit in the purple bus this year.
“We try to create a route that encompasses the center of the city, and touches base on every point along the way in the city and allows our kids to check it out,” said Bowling Green Independent School District director of food services Dalla Emerson.
All children 18 years old or younger are eligible to receive meals. Children do not have to be present to receive meals.
