Bowling Green Hot Rods pitch in to help students in need
BOWLING GREEN Ky.-Several organizations have come together to make sure local students have the supplies they need. Now, a local sports team has joined the mix.
The Bowling Green Hot Rods from Sept. 9 to Oct. 2 have started the inaugural Share the Drive fundraiser for students in the surrounding South-Central Kentucky area.
This is a partnership between the Hot Rods, Stuff the Bus and Bluegrass Cellular. School supplies can be dropped off at the Bowling Green Ballpark, and any backpacks purchased from the Hot Rod’s store will go towards the initiative as well.
The team’s general manager Eric Leach said being a part of the team is more than just baseball.
“That’s the beauty of the Hot Rods. Yes, we’re baseball, but we’re also so much more than that. Without baseball, we still want to be active in the community. We constantly have discussions on what we can do, and how we can be a torch for change and positivity, and this is just one of those avenues,” Leach said.
The goal is to fill 200 backpacks for students in need.
