Bowling Green Hispanic community hosts Fiestaval to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Held twice a year, the BG Fiestaval is back to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

It’s a weekend that features dancing, food and a celebration of the Hispanic community in Bowling Green.

For one local, he drives a bus for Dishman McGinnis Elementary School, which is where a lot of the kids in the Hispanic community attend.

“I have a lot of the kids that are participating tonight, so I just wanted to come out and support them and just… the food’s been great. Ice cream’s wonderful,” Randy Brown says.

He’s honored and excited to support the kids and the Hispanic community throughout the weekend.

“They want to see someone that cares about them within the school system, and we have a system that’s very supportive. I know the principal Shawn Perkins. He’s very good with the community and doing things with the kids, so it’s been a great couple of years that I’ve been driving for him,” Brown says.

Stay tuned to News 40 on Monday, where we’ll have more coverage of the Fiestaval, including a proclamation from the City of Bowling Green.
