Bowling Green High School music programs perform to showcase opportunities

BOWLING GREEN Ky.-The Bowling Green High School music programs performed in celebration of the return of an event. One that’s used to drum up some interest in what’s offered.

Holiday hits like Mariah Carey’s ‘All I want for Christmas is you’ were performed by the school’s music programs. The BGHS band, choir, and orchestra performed school day concerts to the junior high school, along with 4th and 5th graders from all 5 elementary schools in the district.

The goal of these performances is to showcase the musical opportunities students can partake in once they get to the high school. The high school gym was packed as students enjoyed a day of holiday tunes.

District orchestra director Patrick O’Rourke says this is a nice throwback moment for some of the students who also watched this concert back in the day.

“Part of the point of today is to show these kids ‘if you stay in the program, here’s what you can accomplish at the high school levels. Stick with it, and this will be you someday. We’ve been doing these concerts long enough that all of our kids performing were at this concert as audience members years ago. It’s a nice full circle moment for them,” O’Rourke said.
