Bowling Green has potential location for KY Real ID office
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Bowling Green has been selected as one of 12 locations to start issuing Kentucky Real ID’s beginning in 2020.
Reportedly the Bowling Green office will be located at the Stadium Park Plaza.
Both Mayor Bruce Wilkerson and Warren County Court Clerk Brandi Duvall have commented on the potential location.
However, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet was unable to confirm or deny if the Plaza is being considered.
The Bowling Green office once open will produce Real ID’s for the 10 B.R.A.A.D county region.
If the plaza is selected as the location for the office, it will likely draw a lot of traffic to the downtown area.
“In being worried about the traffic, there are always going to be growing pains when something comes. Extending the driver’s license to eight years, I think that will eventually work itself out. Initially there will probably be some long lines from people trying to get through,” said Mayor Wilkerson.
The state must start issuing Real ID drivers licenses by October 1st of next year. An official with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said they hope the offices will open in the first quarter of 2020.
