Bowling Green firefighter retires after decades of service to the community
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Fire Department went to work today missing a beloved member of their community. Battalion chief Tim Buchanon retired on Thursday.
A pillar of the fire department for over two decades, Buchanon served the Bowling Green community with bravery and courage. Serving as a Battalion Chief for the past 9 years dedicated his time to helping prepare the younger generation to be the best firefighters they can be.
Bowling Green fire chief Justin Brooks says that his years of service will be dearly missed but going home to his family happy and healthy is what it’s all about.
“Retired with 23-plus years of service, his last nine being that of a battalion chief. He left a great legacy and one that, deserve the honor that we tried to give it in a retirement celebration. He’s earned a lot. And, the truth is, is, he’s been served well before he got here, and he’ll serve long after his retirement. So, to see him leave, on his on his own accord. Healthy and happy. That’s the goal,” Brooks said.
News 40 sends a big congratulations to Battalion Chief Tom Buchanon and a big thank you for your decades dedicated to keeping us and our community safe.
