Bowling Green fire kills elderly woman

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green woman lost her life in a fire early Monday morning.

The fire broke out around 2 a.m. on Hampton Drive.

Firefighters found a body inside the home.

Neighbors said an elderly woman lived there alone.

At times a caretaker assisted her. Emergency crews woke neighbors to inform them of the fires.

Next door neighbor Miriam Cruz said, “It looked like there was going to be an explosion, so of course we all got out. We were terrified, because it was in the middle of the night.”

At this time, authorities have not released the name of the woman who died or the cause of the fire.
