Bowling Green Fire Department looking to add lateral transfers
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Fire Department is starting a new hiring process to make sure they are are to fill vacancies and keep up with the ever growing population of Bowling Green.
Lateral transfers are when a firefighter from a another station in the state transfers to BGFD.
This shortens the process of adding new firefighters significantly. A new recruit would usually take 15 weeks before they are added to a team, this process would shorten that time length down to just three weeks.
Fire chief Justin Brooks tells News 40 that they are always looking to fill vacancies and add more to keep up with the population of Bowling Green. He also tells News 40 that they are always looking to add individuals who are willing to put the needs of others over themselves.
