Bowling Green Fire Department issues camping tips

With this being the time of year many of us head out to the woods to do some camping, the Bowling Green Fire Department is reminding campers of a few important safety tips.

According to the fire department, campers need to use flame-retardant tents and sleeping bags.

If you plan on making a campfire, keep the fire downwind and don’t start the fire near any tents and sleeping gear.

You should also keep in mind, a small campfire can turn into a roaring wildfire, so be careful when lighting, maintaining and putting out the fire.

Finally, be sure to completely extinguish the fire before going to sleep or leaving the campsite.
