Bowling Green East eliminated from Great Lakes Regional Tournament

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After starting the Great Lakes Regional off with a pair of wins, Bowling Green East followed with a pair of close losses, eliminating the team from the tournament.

Just a day after losing a tough extra innings bout with Illinois, Bowling Green started against Indiana with a two run first inning, getting an early lead.

That lead held just an inning and a half though, as Indiana was able to tie and take the lead with three runs in the bottom of the second inning.

From there, the momentum was not in favor of the Kentucky representative team, as East was outscored 2-1 for the remainder of the contest and they would go on to drop Tuesday’s elimination game 5-3.

The final outcome brings a wrap to a solid summer showing under head coach Jef Goodnight, as the team grabbed their sixth state title just a few weeks ago, and cruised into Great Lakes play without a loss.
