Bowling Green Claims Region 4 Title with 57-49 Win over Greenwood
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Purples are headed back to the Sweet 16 as they defeated Greenwood 57-49 in the Region 4 Championship game at Diddle Arena Wednesday night.
Isaiah Mason led the top-seeded Purples with 18 points, Connor Cooper chipped in 9 points off the bench and both Jordan Dingle and Jacobi Huddleston poured in eight points each.
Unlike the first two meetings between these teams, Bowling Green was tested throughout by a tough Gators’ squad.
After falling behind 10-0 right out of the gates, Greenwood battled back and was able to cut the deficit to six on a number of occasions. However, they could never get any closer than that, as D.G. Sherill’s team answered back and ultimately pulled things out down the stretch.
Aaron Brown led Greenwood with a game-high 21 points and Cade Stinnett added 7 points in the Gators’ final game of the 2020-21 season.
Bowling Green advances to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2017 and will take on the Region 2 Champion at Rupp Arena next Wednesday afternoon. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. CST.
