Bowling Green Chief of Police announces retirement

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Bowling Green Police Chief Doug Hawkins has announced he’s retiring from the force.

Hawkins will serve until August 1.

Hawkins has spent 14 years at the helm of the Bowling Green Police Department and 30 years in law enforcement.

In a statement, Hawkins wrote that he is leaving with a sense of pride and accomplishment.

A city of Bowling Green spokeswoman told WNKY that the city is already conducting in internal search to find the next chief.

A recommendation is scheduled to be announced sometime in late July.
