Bowling Green beats Letcher County Central advancing in 2022 Mingua Beef Jerky Girls Sweet Sixteen® Basketball Tournament

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Bowling Green Lady Purples were able to beat the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars, 58 to 45.

It was a huge day for LynKaylah James, who finished with 15 points four rebounds. Meadow Tisdale, the Junior leader for the team ended up with 18 points and five rebounds, plus Saniyah Shelton four points, two rebounds, and eight assists.

A huge part of the entire game was the defensive presence from the Purples.

That’s what we preached all year long is just sit down and guard and rebound the basketball aggressively,” Head Coach Calvin Head said. “It helps us get out in transition. You know, up here, I think possessions are important. And so if we can maximize our possessions and limit theirs, then increases our chances to have a chance to advance and win.”

Bowling Green will take on the Cooper Lady Jaguars in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 Mingua Beef Jerky Girls Sweet Sixteen® Basketball Tournament tomorrow night at 6 p.m.
