Born Learning Trails across South Central Kentucky

SOUTH CENTRAL KENTUCKY – Across the viewing area, United Way has set up signs in various parks to help kids as much as possible before kindergarten.

Ellie Harbaugh, United Way’s Executive Vice President said Born Learning is a national campaign that they’ve brought to all of southern Kentucky to help enrich young children ahead of getting into school. Harbaugh said that 50% of the community’s children are not kindergarten ready and that can prove challenging for their academic career for years to come.

The brain develops most rapidly between the ages of 0 to 5 so it’s important for kids to be engaged. The signs around local parks are simple ways to get your child active and learning at the same time.

The signs cover a multitude of things like numbers and letters to get children thinking and doing what they know best, having playtime.
