Boeing announces 737 max fix

(NBC News) Boeing has announced a software change aimed at correcting reported problems with the automated flight control system on 737 Max jets.

Problems with the system are suspected of contributing to two fatal crashes, Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 and Lion Air 610, that resulted in hundreds of deaths.

The 737 Max fleet was grounded earlier this month following the Ethiopian Airlines crash.

The company says: “Boeing has been continuously providing the required documentation to show compliance to FAA regulations, with the final submission expected at the end of this week.”

Pilots and analysts say it will still be weeks before the 737 Max is back in the air.

Meanwhile, a Senate committee on Wednesday pressed Department of Transportation officials on how the new jetliner was cleared to fly in the United States.
