Bob Kirby Branch Library to host Mental Health and Menopause Symposium
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Several organizations are coming together to highlight the importance of self-awareness during Mental Health Awareness Month.
The Bowling Green Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the National Alliance on Mental Illness are leading this initiative. The speakers will be Lacretia Dye, a WKU associate professor and therapist, Mary Lee Snodgrass, an integrative pharmacist and Megan Knauer, a certified nutrition coach.
Their focus is on educating the community about the link between mental health, self-connection and menopause. Dye emphasizes the need to know and appreciate every part of ourselves. She says she believes true wholeness begins with self-understanding and acceptance. The event also aims to educate men about women’s health, encouraging stronger relationships through shared knowledge.
Dye stresses that anyone with a mother, sister or daughter can benefit from attending. The Mental Health and Menopause Symposium is free and open to all.
It will take place on Saturday, May 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Bob Kirby Branch Library. For those unable to attend in person, a Zoom option is available.
