Blood Assurance seeking blood donations, holds blood drive at ballpark

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Blood Assurance teamed up with the Hot Rods today to gather much-needed blood donations.

On Monday, the Blood Assurance Bus accepted blood donations until 3 p.m. If you donated today, you could win a $20 Amazon or Mastercard gift card. One donor could also win two tickets to the Hot Rods’ Baseball game on July 23.

Blood Assurance Donations is a local blood drive where the donations will stay in the Bowling Green area to give to those who are in need of blood. Max Winitz, the media relations coordinator at Blood Assurance, expressed how there is a dire need for O negative blood, a universal blood type, which they only have less than a day’s worth left to use.

“July 4 and July 5 are the two busiest days for hospitals because of people going in for injuries related to fireworks, car accidents, you name it, so these last couple of weeks are very very important for blood banks to ensure that our selves are stocked,” said Winitz.

If you missed this week’s Blood Assurance Donation Bus, they will be at Greenwood Mall this Friday with the same rewards from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
