Blood Assurance encourages donations ahead of World Blood Donor Day
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- World Blood Donation Day is coming up, and being proactive instead of reactive could save a life.
Health experts describe this season as the deadliest days of summer, and the need for blood is on the rise every single day.
News 40 spoke with staff at Blood Assurance and learned that the need for blood is real, especially during the summer when a large part of their donors are enjoying the heat of summer.
Brooke Katz, the media coordinator for Blood Assurance, tells us, “It just kind of falls to the back of people’s minds. You know, they have a vacation with their kids, they’ve got family, their focus on outdoor activities, and they’re not necessarily thinking about the need, especially when it comes to blood donation. ”
If you haven’t donated blood in a while or if it’s on your heart to give a little blood, there is still time.
World Blood Donor Day is Friday, June 14. There will be several sites set up to donate blood. To find a location and schedule to donate, click here.
