BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local pizzeria is offering discounts to healthcare workers in the state to honor their hard work and sacrifice throughout the pandemic.

As healthcare workers continue to battle the pandemic on the frontlines in the nation, Governor Andy Beshear named this week Health Care Heroes Week and encouraged Kentucky businesses to join in the honors.

Blaze Pizza, a build your own pie style pizzeria, has stepped up to the task.

Throughout the week, the restaurant is offering $5 off any 11-inch pizza for anyone working in the medical profession.

Jennifer Bowles, the general manager of the Bowling Green location, said she is personally appreciative toward healthcare heroes.

“I have two of my family members in the hospital with COVID and they’re not doing so well.

“So it is important for us to give back to them because they’re going through a really hard time right now. They’re working a lot of hours. The hospitals that are overflowing and so a discount on food just makes them feel better about themselves, you know, people actually care about what they’re doing for our loved ones,” said Bowles.

The deal is available through Saturday and you must have proof of employment or an ID card, and is only offered for dine-in or carry out.
