‘Black Daggers’ to parachute into Houchens-Smith Stadium on Saturday

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Before Western Kentucky and Army go to battle on the gridiron on Saturday night, there will be a special pregame ceremony before the ball is kicked off.

The Black Daggers, the official United States Army Special Operations Command Parachute Demonstration Team, will soar through the sky before landing onto Feix Field to deliver the game ball.

Twenty-two soldiers make up the squad, training for weeks and sometimes making 10 jumps in a day depending on weather conditions.

Members of the Black Daggers have served multiple deployments and have been in the military for at least six years.

This year, they’ve parachuted into 12 stadiums, some collegiate and some professional, but doing so before an Army football game makes this jump a little extra special.
