Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Kentucky announces closure

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A mentoring organization in South Central Kentucky has announced plans to no longer provide services.

In a news release from Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Kentucky, mentoring services came to an end on February 20.

The release states that over the years the number and strength of standards of practice have increased, requiring additional staffing to ensure the program is delivered in a manner consistent with the Big Brothers Big Sisters model, which would increase the resources needed to support the program.

According to the release, after considering the full picture of the community’s needs and capacity, the organization concluded that it could no longer fully execute the Big Brothers Big Sisters model.

The release goes on to say that the board and its mentors are honored to have served hundreds of children, by matching them in life-changing relationships with caring adult volunteers.
