BGPR announcing Russell Sims Aquatic Center will be opening for the first time since 2019
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation has announced that the Russell Sims Aquatic Center will be reopening this year.
Last year, during the beginning few months of COVID, the waterpark was not able to open to the public at all.
While this year the park’s operation may look different from past years, people will still be able to come in and enjoy and cool off during the summer heat.
The pool brings in a decent amount of income to the city, although the goal of the aquatic center is to be affordable to locals, people from out of county and even out of state come to enjoy the fun.
Right now, the biggest issue with opening is the lack of lifeguards hired on to work throughout the summer, but the city is hiring and are eager to get folks trained and ready for duty.
Hours of operation will likely be shorter and the capacity levels will be reduced this summer, but so will the price of entering.
The price and official opening day have not yet been announced, but they are hoping it will be around $5 and near Memorial Day.
