BGPD warns community of ‘sick child’ scams
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-The Bowling Green Police Department is warning people to be wary of a new scam in town.
There have been several people spotted in town holding signs, asking for money to help a sick child.
The problem is, the exact same signs have been spotted in states around the country. BGPD has talked to the people and asked where the children are from and they cannot tell them.
“I’m really just disappointed that people would stoop to this level. There’s a possibility that the child that’s shown on the poster board actually passed several years ago. But the fact you would use the sickness of a child to tug at people’s heartstrings, especially around the holidays,” said BGPD PIO Ronnie Ward.
They have been spotted at Three Springs Road, Cumberland Trace Road, and Scottsville Road.
