BGPD partners with American Red Cross to host blood drive

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department partnered with the American Red Cross for a blood drive on Tuesday.

BGPD hosts a blood drive twice a year due to the ongoing need for blood. The Red Cross reached out to the department to schedule its first drive of the year earlier than usual.

The drive ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and saw several members of the Bowling Green community donate blood.

BGPD also shared advice for those who missed the event but still want to give.

“It’s very easy. You can go on the Red Cross website, and there’s a button at the top to search for a drive near you,” said Bowling Green Police Department Public Information Officer Ronnie Ward. “They have drives in Bowling Green on a fairly regular basis, and you’re able to donate at any one of those facilities every 56 days.”

Ward added that donating blood helps support the Bowling Green community.
