New Details: BGPD investigating fatal crash on Lovers Lane, arrest made

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department is investigating a fatal crash.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle collision in 300 block of Lovers Lane near Briarwood Elementary on Wednesday at approximately 6:13 a.m.

Each vehicle had one occupant operator.

One of the vehicle operator’s was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County coroner. The victim of the crash has been identified as Ashley C. Porter, 40 of Bowling Green.

The other vehicle operator was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The operator of the vehicle is Ryan T. Bagwell of White House, TN.

Police say Bagwell was traveling north on Lovers Lane when he drove into Porter’s lane as she was driving south. According to a release, police say Bagwell was under the influence at the time of the accident. He was placed into custody at The Medical Center.

According a post on X, police say Lovers Lane was closed for several hours. The road has since reopened.

Bagwell is charged with vehicular homicide when under the influence of drugs/substance, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (drug unspecified), first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (drug unspecified), operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a substance, drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, possession of marijuana and second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense.

Bagwell remains at the Warren County Detention Center.
