UPATE: Police release additional details in officer-involved shooting

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department has confirmed an officer-involved shooting has taken place off of the 1900 block of Russellville Road near the America’s Car-Mart.

BGPD public information officer Ronnie Ward says an officer was transported for medical treatment.

The Kentucky State Police confirmed in a release sent around 10:45 p.m. that the officer is a member of the Bowling Green Police Department and was transported to a hospital for life-threatening injuries sustained in the shooting. The current condition of the officer is unconfirmed at this time.

A male subject has been pronounced dead at The Medical Center at Bowling Green by the Warren County coroner, according to KSP. The identities of those involved have not been released.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Louisville Field Division says its Bowling Green office is assisting local police with this incident. Kentucky State Police trooper Daniel Priddy has also confirmed KSP is investigating the officer-involved shooting.

The KSP Critical Incident Response Team received a request from KSP Post 3 to investigate around 5:25 p.m. Thursday. The CIRT arrived at the scene and began the investigation.

The America’s Car-Mart is closed until at least Monday.
