BGPD commemorates 78th anniversary of Battle of Normandy, honors World War II veterans
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Our Bowling Green community was in the presence of some very special men today.
The Bowling Green Police Department hosted four World War II veterans Friday to commemorate the 78th anniversary of the Battle of Normandy.
The ceremony highlighted the veterans’ service to not only the country, but our community. Most importantly, the ceremony recognized the very few that are still with us today and gave these men a chance to share their stories.
“It’s emotional…there aren’t many of us left…,” said Dr. Earl Wassom, a World War II veteran.
We are honored to have these men as a part of our community. News40 thanks you!
