Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society needs traps as TNR season ramps up
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Spring is here, and that means you may see an increase of baby animals running around. That’s why the Bowling Green, Warren County Humane Society is stepping up their trap-neuter-release program, and they need your help. The shelter says they are in desperate need of trap, neuter, release traps right now.
Trap-Neuter-Return, also known as “TNR,” is the most humane and effective method known for managing feral and stray cats and reducing their numbers. Stray cats typically live together in a group called a colony. Shelters then trap these cats and bring them to a veterinary clinic. The animals are then spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies where appropriate, and eartipped. After recovery, cats are returned to their original territory.
Officials say having the best equipment makes practicing TNR faster and safer. The shelter says they have let the public borrow some of these traps in the past. They ask that if you do still have one of these traps, to bring it back to the Humane Society.
