BG Junior Woman’s Club rings in 2019 with 7th annual 5K race

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – We’ve finally reached another New Year’s Day.

To celebrate, several people from the community chose to rise early on the first morning of 2019 and go for a run.

Not just for the exercise, but to show their support for the Bowling Green Junior Woman’s Club and the Southern Kentucky Center for Nonprofits.

The BGJWC held its Cheers to the New Year’s 5K Race at Lovers Lane Park/Soccer Complex.

At 10:00 a.m., runners from all over Bowling Green participated in 2 laps around Lovers Lane Loops Trail during the race.

This is the 7th annual Cheers to the New Year’s Race and the 2nd year for it being held at Lovers Lane Park/Soccer Complex.

All of the proceeds from today’s race will benefit the Southern Kentucky Center for Nonprofits.

BGJWC saw a great turnout, which they contribute in large part to their many supporters in the local community.

We spoke to Ginny Arterburn Sims, the Manager of the Cheers to the New Year’s Race.

Sims tells us the message behind the 5K race is to inspire the community to start the new year healthy.

She also says it encourages continued support of local nonprofits in all that they do.

Sims is already looking forward to the new year and what the BGJWC will accomplish by the end of 2019.
