BG City Commission to vote on changes to panhandling ordinance

The City of Bowling Green will be revisiting its panhandling ordinance at Tuesday’s City Commission meeting.

Commissioners are expected to vote on making changes to the current ordinance. One change would penalize drivers for handing items to panhandlers while sitting in traffic. The panhandler would also be fined for stepping into traffic to accept the donation. City staff says the change is based on the safety of both the driver and the person seeking a donation. If approved, Bowling Green Police will enforce the rule.

Tuesday’s commission meeting will be held at 4:30 P.M. at City Hall.
