BG 2050, planning for a better Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. –  Change is coming and Warren County government wants to get ahead of the curve.

As Nashville grows exponentially, it will ultimately affect Bowling Green with the city being just an hour up the road, and that’s something Warren County judge-executive Doug Gorman and several others have put much consideration into.

Bowling Green has been called a “suburb of Nashville” for some time now, with many people commuting back and forth for work, and the big thought is, “How do we have change happen for Bowling Green and not to it?”

Warren County got some help from across the pond in this regard, with a researcher from France coming to Bowling Green who enlisted some more help from around the world to further push the agenda of improving what several thousand people call home.

Some issues of importance at the BG 2050 workshop that was open to the public were things like walkability, entertainment, green space and maintaining Bowling Green’s cultural diversity as well as the housing market.

Balancing what’s already here with what could be added and beneficial for the community in the next 20 or so years is a big task, but it’s one that everyone can pour in to.
