Betty’s Bar under new ownership, will keep same name
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Betty’s Bar in Bowling Green is going through changes – but not just to the inside of the building.
The bar now has a new owner in Elizabeth Fry, who is also a co-owner of Whiskey River Pub in Bowling Green.
In recent weeks, the bar has been closed as improvements are made to the interior of the building, including a larger stage for bands to perform on.
Despite the new ownership, Fry said she’s keeping the same name for the bar, because she feels Betty Bunch did so many good things with the place and was so well-liked by the community.
Fry intends to pay tribute to the late Bunch by dedicating a wall in the bar that will feature pictures of and a plaque dedicated to the former owner.
The bar will also feature new hours of operation and different drink specials each day of the week.
“I like to take on a challenge,” said Fry. “We run Whiskey River and Betty’s Bar became available and Jason Mills gave us the opportunity to run it. Betty ran it so well that we’d just like to keep it the way she had it. Our hours will be changing from 9:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. every day.”
The bar is expected to re-open for business on Nov. 1.
