Better Business Bureau warns south-central Kentucky about bourbon scams
SOUTH-CENTRAL KENTUCKY. – Bourbon enthusiasts may want to be aware of a scam.
The Better Business Bureau says retail sites and social media accounts are targeting drinkers in Kentucky. Many people have reported websites that appear to be legitimate and claim to offer high-end bourbons and other liquors at low prices. Shoppers say they place an order, but they never get their bottles.
Whitney Adkins, the communications director at Better Business Bureau, says, “This protects you and your hard-earned money. So in the event, again, that you do find that you’ve been scammed or you’re dealing with a bad business, at least you can get that money back, and again, we’re just trying to help consumers protect not only their money and make sure they get what they’re paying for but their personal information as well.”
One way you can avoid this scam is by watching for red flags at the beginning of your purchase by paying with a credit card, and you can put any website into the following link to verify the website and to ensure that you are protecting your finances at all costs.
