Beshear urges senior centers to close in-person activities

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Gov. Andy Beshear has urged senior centers in Kentucky to temporarily close for in-person activities. It’s another step to protect the elderly and others from the new coronavirus. Nearly 200 senior centers prepare about 8,000 meals daily across Kentucky. Beshear said Friday that efforts are under way to ensure that elderly Kentuckians relying on those meals continue receiving them. For most people, the virus causes only mild or moderate symptoms, but for a few people, especially older adults and those with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illnesses, including pneumonia.
