Beshear signs bill to complete BG Veteran Center funding
House Bill 2 dedicates $16.6 million
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As of today, Kentucky veterans are one step closer to seeing the Commonwealth’s fifth long-term skilled nursing care facility come to fruition.
This morning Governor Andy Beshear signed a bill to fund the completion of Bowling Green Veterans Center Bowling Green Veterans Center.
House Bill 2 dedicates an additional $16,630,000 complete construction of the $53 million Veterans Center in Bowling Green.
This 80,000-square-foot facility spanning 25 acres of the Kentucky Transpark will provide compassionate care for Kentucky’s veterans.
The Veterans Center will provide 60 beds as well as state-of-the-art equipment, physical therapy and recreational activities.
Commander of AMVETS Bowling Green Gerald Mounce said, “It’ll be a great boost for all of us veterans here because all of us are getting up and age, and we’re starting looking for stuff like this. The closest one to us right now is in Radcliff… Most of us would be friends anyway where we’re in the VFW, American Legion and AMVETS all together.”
The center is expected to be completed in 2024.
