Beshear orders flags to half-staff to honor Scott County deputy sheriff

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff in honor of the Scott County deputy sheriff who died during a traffic stop.
The tribute lasts from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, June 1, according to Beshear’s office.
Scott County deputy sheriff Caleb Conley was fatally shot during a traffic stop on Interstate 75 Monday, May 22.
According to Beshear, Conley served four years as a deputy sheriff of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office. Prior to that, the governor’s office says Conley served eight years in the U.S. Army. In 2020 and 2022, Conley received the Governor’s Award for impaired driving enforcement. He grew up and lived in Harrison County.
Funeral services for Conley will be held in the gymnasium of Scott County High School at 11 a.m. Thursday. Following this, interment will take place at Battle Grove Cemetery in Cynthiana.
