Beshear orders flags to half-staff Saturday in honor of Jesse Jackson

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, Feb. 28, in honor of trailblazing civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson, who died Feb. 17 at the age of 84.
Previously, the governor’s office says Beshear had ordered flags to half-staff on March 7 when a private service will be held in Chicago.
However, Jackson’s casket is expected to travel through the Commonwealth on Saturday while en route to his home state of South Carolina, where a ceremony at the Statehouse honoring Jackson will be held on Monday.
The governor’s office encourages all individuals, businesses and organizations throughout the Commonwealth to join in this tribute. Flag status information is available at governor.ky.gov/flag-status.
